Your horse's comfort is our priority
Foothills Horse Transport is Canada’s only member of the National Horse Carriers’ Association. All horses are shipped loose in either a California or Box Stall on trips over 300 miles to help prevent shipping fever and a multitude of health issues.
California box stalls are our unique shipping standard, compared to the typical industry standard of tie stalls. Our Cali stalls are recommended for experienced show horses on trips less than 2,000 miles.
Box Stalls are the most comfortable option for all horses; they are required for all young/experienced horses and should be strongly considered for poor travellers, stallions and pregnant mares.
Hay is fed on the floor and water buckets are hung in each stall. All trips go direct to destination with two drivers who stop every three to four hours to feed, water, and check horses. All trucks are equipped with satellite tracking and CCTV video monitoring.
We use air ride semi-truck and trailers exclusively for all longer trips. Horses that travel on air ride semis arrive at their destinations fresh and well-rested. Pickup trucks and smaller trucks with gooseneck style trailers are not designed to provide the comfort and safety horses require for trips longer than 300 miles.
